Throughout the summer of 2018 OPS technicians have been deployed on the local windfarm at Burbo Bank, located in Liverpool Bay in the Irish Sea. Projects have included wind turbine maintenance and assistance with the sub-station paint campaign. Local OPS technicians have been deployed on the windfarm, performing tasks utilising a variety of techniques including rope-access.
Many of our teams of rope-access technicians include qualified ICATS or Train the Painter industrial painters and are able to supply full detailed paint reports, ensuring all works are completed to the client specifications and requirements, within the designated milestones and on budget.
The Burbo Bank Extension was completed in 2017 and compliments the original Burbo Bank windfarm, itself completed in 2007. The extension adds an additional 32 wind turbines to the windfarm, bringing the total number of wind turbines across both windfarms to 57, with a combined operational capacity of 348MW, enough to power over 300 000 homes.
Burbo Ban Extension is also the site of the current world’s largest operational wind turbines at 8MW each.
