KENYA - LAKE TURKANA

Project Description

Date
 Summer 2017

Various Rope Access Maintenance Works

Lake Turkana WindFarm

Throughout the summer of 2017 OPS rope access technicians were deployed to Lake Turkana in Kenya to perform a variety of tasks such as general maintenance and acetate application utilising a range of techniques including rope-access as a means of delivery.

The location provided a number of challenges, not least due to the geographical location of the windfarm, being 339 miles north of Nairobi, towards the northern border with Ethiopia.

Lake Turkana WF is the largest in Kenya, covering an area of 160sq km, with 365 wind turbines; it has the operational capacity to supply renewable electricity to over one million homes!
